Productive Restructuring Minas – Rio

Productive Restructuring Minas – Rio

The restructuring work on the productive activities of the resettled people by the Minas-Rio project was already planned during the resettlement period, since Synergia was also responsible for the Basic Environmental Plans (PBAs) for Resettlement and Socioeconomic Monitoring of the families.

Thus, the actions of orientation and training of farmers and actions for the development of productive systems in the new properties were integrated into the monitoring of the socioeconomic conditions of the families after the relocation. This favored the results obtained by the project to be dimensioned, proving the effective improvement in the quality of life of the participants.

The technical work, with training and qualifications, enabled a considerable improvement in the productivity indexes and an increase in the income of the participating farmers.

The project acted globally, relying on the diagnosis of farmers and properties. In this way, it was possible to indicate the productive potential and develop technical guidance and agricultural training, the supply of inputs and technical advice for the implementation of productive projects for each family served. Thus, the construction of corrals, the implantation of mechanized milking systems, irrigation systems for vegetables, and other benefits, were directed according to the needs of each production, together with due technical monitoring.

Fabio Marçal, project manager at Synergia, praises the importance of work for the local community and highlights one of the positive results that could be seen. For him, “there was a large rural exodus here, but we are already starting to see children of resettled people who are returning to the lands to work with their parents. This is what we expect: that families are fixed on the land and can continue their lives as members of rural communities.”

There was a very large rural exodus here, but we have already begun to see children of resettled people returning to work with their parents. We hope that the families will be fixed on the land and able to follow their lives as members of rural communities.

I proposed to sell the land, I just wanted to go to a place I liked. Here it got a lot better. My income here is higher because there I drew less milk. It improved a lot, both for me and my family.

We did an organic vegetable garden course and learned that everything we plant doesn't need to have a chemical product, it's just pure organic stuff. It was very good this course, even for knowledge that we didn't have. Today we have even a better knowledge.
